About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals and monitor established quality assurance standards. Support the Customer 1st strategy and demonstrate the company's values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Prepare baked goods to meet daily production goals, assist customers with product questions and special orders, and handle bakery merchandise, ingredients, equipment, and inventory in accordance with company guidelines and food safety requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Bakery experience.
Retail experience.
Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math.
Must obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.
Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
Must be 18 or older.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers and answer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
Continuously maintain clean counters, cases, coolers, and work areas.
Observe scheduled shift operating hours and meet daily baked-goods production goals.
Plan and organize a development plan, including setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and developing timelines.
Assist with receiving and unloading merchandise and supplies.
Maintain knowledge of department products and make suggestions to customers.
Prepare special orders at customer request.
Use bakery equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, proof-boxes, stoves, and computerized scales, according to company guidelines.
Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment.
Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Stock and inventory department merchandise; report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Understand the store layout and locate products for customers.
Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance needs and notify the appropriate manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Follow merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply control, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, and associate and customer engagement rules.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
