About The Position
Kowalski’s is a family-owned business that uses a civic business model to promote sustainability and build right relationships with customers and employees. The Bakery Associate/Pastry Finisher is an entry-level opportunity to learn the work of a grocery bakery, including time prioritization, professional food handling that meets health-code standards, and courteous customer service. The bakery prepares delicate and savory baked goods for customers. Bakery associates build respectful, transparent relationships with coworkers and customers through communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. They follow food health and safety guidelines and quality standards. The ideal candidate can manage time independently, fill and rotate products, maintain cleanliness, and provide excellent customer service. No experience is required; Kowalski’s provides extensive, in-person, hands-on training on performing the job safely, quickly, and efficiently.
Requirements
- Availability to be scheduled 20–39 hours per week year-round.
- Availability for any shift between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Availability for two out of three weekend days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) year-round.
- Availability to work holidays.
- Ability to ensure food quality and safety.
- Comfort speaking with customers in an energetic and helpful manner.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently.
- Interest in preparing and handling food.
- Adherence to health codes and sanitation standards.
- Interest in product knowledge.
- Understanding that interactions can positively affect customers’ and coworkers’ days.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality and safety of food.
