About The Position

The Baggage System Technician performs manual tasks for the Airline Services department and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor - Airline Services. The role supports baggage handling and conveyor operations while maintaining cleanliness and assisting Airline Service trades. Work is performed with a high degree of responsibility and awareness of safety practices and standards at an international airport. Other related work may be assigned or directed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Current, valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license, or ability to obtain one.
Must provide personal protective footwear (safety shoes).
Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, and materials used by airline baggage handlers.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and injury prevention techniques.
Ability to work according to standard practices using the materials and equipment of the occupation.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to operate a scissor lift platform.
Ability to identify an airline using IATA barcode designation.
Serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in accordance with the Authority’s Ethics Policy.

Responsibilities

Work safely and follow all ACAA safety guidelines.
Develop or participate in job safety analysis procedures.
Operate scissor lift platform equipment.
Clear baggage jams.
Identify airline-sponsored property using IATA barcode tags.
Move baggage when directed and load baggage into conveyor systems when required.
Empty trash receptacles and clean areas associated with airline baggage transfer, including Airline Service shop areas.
Manually assign baggage within conveyor systems.
Monitor the baggage system and call out faults.
Use the ACAA-required lockout/tagout program.
Wash Airline Service vehicles, inside and out.
Clean the exit windows of automatic tag reader laser heads.
Assist Airline Service trades.
Perform other related work as assigned or directed.
