About The Position

getpress is developing its own AI-agent platform for the PR industry, using technologies including LangGraph, PostgreSQL, and Next.js. The company is evolving toward a service-as-a-software model and is building a PR platform and multi-agent system, with foundational architecture and initial components already in production.

As Backend Engineer, you will work with the existing developer to build and shape the technical foundation of the platform. The role includes full-stack development of a platform intended to become the PR agency’s operating system, building AI agents and multi-agent orchestration for PR consultants, contributing to system architecture, and developing database architecture for relational and vector data. You will work in close proximity to users and management, in rapid development cycles, with autonomy to implement ideas and influence technical direction.

The position can be based at the Berlin office or remotely within Germany. Applicants must live in Germany. The company emphasizes flexible work arrangements, personal responsibility, trust, and clear communication.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• At least 1 year of experience developing AI agents and components such as memory, context engineering, retrieval, and orchestration using frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, LangGraph, or similar.
• Experience with TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, Git, LangGraph, and GitHub.
• Experience developing backend systems using frameworks such as FastAPI, Spring Boot, or NestJS and common programming languages such as Java, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience with container-based and cloud-native architectures, such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or similar.
• German at B2 level is sufficient; motivation to reach C1 through a course during the first year is expected. C1 German is an advantage.
• Residence in Germany.

Nice To Haves

• Strong data skills, including SQL, API design, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems and understanding model behavior, performance, and limitations.
• Product-engineering experience, including evaluating business and user needs before implementing technical solutions.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with agentic development tools such as Claude Code or Codex.

Responsibilities

• Develop the PR platform as a full-stack product in rapid development cycles, working closely with users.
• Build an agent system that reshapes the PR value chain, including agents used by consultants, self-learning loops, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Contribute to system architecture, including workflows, data models, interfaces, compliance, and technology choices.
• Develop the database architecture, including relational databases and vector databases.
• Help define technical standards and how getpress adopts and uses technology.
