About The Position

getpress is building an AI-agent platform for the PR industry as it transforms into a service-as-a-software company. Its AI team has established the core architecture, and parts of the PR platform and multi-agent system are already in production. The Backend Engineer will share ownership of the technical foundation with another developer and help shape how the future PR platform operates.

The role includes full-stack development of the PR platform, building an agent system that supports the PR value chain end to end, and helping shape system architecture, workflows, data models, interfaces, compliance, and the technology stack. The current stack mainly includes PostgreSQL, Next.js, LangGraph, and Docker. The role also involves further developing database architecture for relational and vector data.

The position offers autonomy, close collaboration with management, and the opportunity to define technical standards. Work can be performed remotely within Germany or from the Berlin office. Applicants must reside in Germany.

Requirements

• More than 3 years of software development experience.
• At least 1 year of experience developing AI agents and components such as memory, context engineering, retrieval, and orchestration, using frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or LangGraph.
• Experience with TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, Git, LangGraph, and GitHub.
• Experience developing backend systems with frameworks such as FastAPI, Spring Boot, or NestJS, and common programming languages such as Java, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience with container-based and cloud-native architectures, such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or similar.
• Applicants must reside in Germany.
• B2-level German is sufficient; motivation to reach C1 through a course during the first year is expected. C1 German is an advantage.

Nice To Haves

• Strong data skills, including SQL, API design, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems and understanding model behavior, performance, and limitations.
• Product-engineering experience, including assessing requirements from business and user perspectives before implementation.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with agentic development tools such as Claude Code or Codex.

Responsibilities

• Develop the PR platform, including full-stack work on the platform intended to become the PR agency's operating system.
• Build an AI-agent system that redefines the PR value chain end to end, including agents used by consultants, self-learning loops, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Help shape system architecture, workflows, data models, interfaces, compliance, and the technology stack.
• Further develop database architecture for relational and vector databases.
• Define technical standards and contribute to how getpress uses technology and AI in its processes and strategy.
