The Back Office Technician (Floater) performs patient care, office, and laboratory duties and regularly travels to multiple clinics within an assigned region. The technician prepares patients for examination and assists optical professionals in providing eye care and treatment. The role supports a comfortable, professional patient environment, accurate examination documentation, patient education, and steady clinic flow. In some clinics, the technician may drive patients in a company-provided vehicle. This is primarily an office-based position with controlled temperatures, limited direct exposure to hazardous physical substances, and usually low-to-moderate noise. The employee travels between offices and regularly sits, stands, walks, handles or feels objects, reaches, sees, talks, and hears. The role frequently involves lifting or carrying materials typically weighing less than 20 pounds and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, bending, or crouching. Finger dexterity is needed to use a computer keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment. The employee must comply with applicable regulations and company policies and must not engage in activities that constitute the practice of ophthalmology where prohibited by law or interfere with the clinician-patient relationship. Clinicians retain sole responsibility for professional services provided to patients.
