About The Position

This role involves the general, daily maintenance of Baader machines, including greasing equipment, replacing ball bearings, and spot-checking machinery. The assistant will also clean and repair factory equipment as directed by the Baader Technician or Factory Manager. A key responsibility is assisting in maintaining an accurate inventory of necessary parts and supplies, and regularly communicating with Baader Technicians about maintenance needs and part replacements.

Requirements

  • Able to follow directions and work independently without constant supervision
  • General mechanical knowledge
  • Minimum two years working at-sea
  • General understanding of computerized numerical controls
  • Well organized and punctual
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gang plank or using a Jacob’s ladder
  • Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero
  • Ability to lift repetitively for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • General, daily maintenance of Baader machines including greasing of equipment, ball-bearing replacement and spot checking machinery
  • Cleans and repairs factory equipment, as requested by Baader Technician or Factory Manager
  • Assists in maintaining adequate and accurate inventory of necessary parts and supplies
  • Regularly communicates with Baader Technicians regarding maintenance and or replacement of parts or machinery
