About The Position

The Tech Assistant supports patient care and clinic operations by welcoming and registering patients, handling appointment and insurance information, and assisting technologists. The role requires professional, respectful communication with patients, families, coworkers, and the public, as well as careful handling of patient health and financial information. The assistant also helps maintain a safe clinical setting by ensuring equipment and tools are sterilized before each patient exam and safeguarding on-site medications in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• One year of previous medical office experience.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• BLS certification.
• Effective professional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Recent medical or radiology office work experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, collect copays, verify patient information, and notify team members when patients arrive.
• Communicate appointment delays promptly and offer rescheduling options to support timely patient care.
• Obtain insurance and authorizations, collect signatures, and ensure required documentation is accurate and complete.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments; confirm appointments; and notify staff of changes.
• Ensure equipment and tools are sterilized in each department before every patient exam.
• Assist technologists with patients.
• Safeguard patient property and Patient Health Information.
• Safeguard on-site medications in accordance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Respect company property, including cash and patient financial information held on site or in patient portals.
• Maintain professional behavior and cooperative working relationships with patients and coworkers, while respecting patient boundaries and cultural sensitivities.
