About The Position

The Radiology Technologist Assistant supports the radiology department with clerical tasks and patient-care assistance. The role includes preparing examination rooms, cleaning rooms after patient visits, stocking supplies and linens, transporting patients, answering phones, and communicating with technologists. The assistant contributes to a positive patient experience while maintaining a neat and safe work environment and following hospital policies, department protocols, and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent, or two years of work experience.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification (CPR, BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients throughout radiology, including to and from the emergency department or inpatient units.
• Help patients prepare for examinations, including assisting them with dressing and getting on and off examination tables.
• Set up rooms for examinations or procedures.
• Keep examination rooms and work areas neat and safe.
• Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately, including calling codes as needed.
• Identify orders in Epic and coordinate with technologists and radiologists when examination protocols are needed.
• Check current laboratory values for patients receiving contrast.
• Follow hospital policy on body substance isolation.
• Follow department and hospital safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to protect patients, staff, and self.
• Answer the telephone, take messages, and return calls when instructed.
