About The Position

The AWS Cloud Platform Engineer Lead will be responsible for identifying program objectives and technical development strategy, preparing System Engineering Management Plans, Work Breakdown Structures, master schedules, and key performance parameters. This role involves developing and implementing risk and opportunity management plans, overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of system engineering projects, and acting as a mentor for team members. The engineer will also be responsible for installing, tuning, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems, as well as expanding engineering job knowledge through continuous learning and professional engagement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant IT systems engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 AWS certification is required.
  • Strong Leadership experience with driving Transformation initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of Software coding techniques and experience with full spectrum of Software engineering leveraging Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Automation and Infrastructure Provisioning.
  • Familiar with Terraform automation, Ansible playbooks, and Python code.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Formation and CDK.
  • Hands-on experience with Containerization and Amazon EKS.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable, resilient, and secure cloud environments.
  • 10+ years of overall experience in IT including hands-on Development and Systems engineering background.
  • 5-10 years of experience in cloud engineering and automation, with a focus on AWS cloud services.
  • 3+ years of experience with implementation of Containerization, AI workloads, Cloud technologies, and DevOps tool chain.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services and solutions, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SRE principles and transformation.
  • Experience in Developing and/or challenging engineering solutions/practices and collaborating with peers within and outside of immediate team, including customers.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies program objectives and technical development strategy; prepares System Engineering Management Plan, Work Breakdown Structures, master schedules, and key performance parameters.
  • Develops and implements risk and opportunity management plans, identifies risks, assesses risks, develops mitigation plans, disaster recovery and tracks risks.
  • Oversees the planning, design and implementation of system engineering projects.
  • Plans, develops and leads systems engineering project and efforts.
  • Develops and implements techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services, and supports the root cause analysis.
  • Manages customer and stakeholder needs, generates and develops requirements, and performs functional analysis.
  • Acts as a mentor for junior and senior team members.
  • Installs, tunes, upgrades, troubleshoots, and maintains all computer systems relevant to the supported applications.
  • Expands engineering job knowledge and leading technologies by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; educational opportunities and participating in professional societies.
