About The Position

The AWS Cloud Platform Engineer Lead will be responsible for identifying program objectives and technical development strategy, preparing System Engineering Management Plans, Work Breakdown Structures, master schedules, and key performance parameters. This role involves developing and implementing risk and opportunity management plans, overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of system engineering projects, and leading systems engineering project efforts. The engineer will also develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoot incidents, and support root cause analysis. Additionally, they will manage customer and stakeholder needs, generate requirements, perform functional analysis, and act as a mentor for team members. This role requires installing, tuning, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems, as well as expanding engineering job knowledge through professional development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant IT systems engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 AWS certification is required.
  • Strong Leadership experience with driving Transformation initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of Software coding techniques and experience with full spectrum of Software engineering leveraging Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Automation and Infrastructure Provisioning.
  • Strong skills and experience in at least one IAC tool for Platform Automation: Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK.
  • Experience with Containerization (Kubernetes), Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure etc.), and DevOps tool chain.
  • 10+ years of overall experience in IT including hands-on Development and Systems engineering background.
  • 5-10 years of experience in cloud engineering and automation, with a focus on AWS cloud services.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services and solutions, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable, resilient, and secure cloud environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SRE principles and transformation.
  • Experience in Developing and/or challenging engineering solutions/practices and collaborating with peers within and outside of immediate team.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services, and supports the root cause analysis.
  • Manages customer and stakeholder needs, generates and develops requirements, and performs functional analysis.
  • Acts as a mentor for junior and senior team members.
  • Installs, tunes, upgrades, troubleshoots, and maintains all computer systems relevant to the supported applications.
  • Expands engineering job knowledge and leading technologies by reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
