About The Position
The AVP, Underwriting supports the development and implementation of underwriting strategy within the Berkley Specialty Property underwriting team. The role executes and monitors underwriting activities across assigned commercial property business and collaborates with field and staff functions to support profitable growth, underwriting discipline, and effective portfolio management. The position also builds broker relationships and represents Berkley Specialty Property in the marketplace.
Requirements
- Four to ten years of commercial property underwriting experience; experience within the U.S. Excess and Surplus (E&S) insurance market is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in commercial property underwriting with proven results.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and insurance industry practices.
- Experience underwriting commercial property lines of business.
- Broad understanding of related insurance disciplines and functions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound business decisions.
- Ability to solve complex business problems effectively and creatively.
Nice To Haves
- Experience within the U.S. Excess and Surplus (E&S) insurance market.
