About The Position

Gentiva is seeking an experienced Area Vice President of Hospice Operations to oversee and elevate multi-site hospice operations in southern Indiana. This leadership role is responsible for regulatory compliance, strategic growth, quality care delivery, and community engagement across multiple hospice programs and markets. The AVP directs day-to-day business operations, financial management, staff development, admissions, payroll, and quality assurance; maintains regulatory and accreditation readiness; develops referral partnerships; and ensures patient- and family-centered services across home, hospital, and long-term care settings. The AVP also supervises executive directors, medical staff, volunteer programs, and interdepartmental teams, represents the organization in the community, and participates in ongoing quality improvement.

Requirements

Active RN license required, if applicable.
Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in hospice or healthcare operations.
Proven expertise in regulatory compliance, budgeting, staff leadership, and multi-site operations.
In-depth knowledge of hospice Conditions of Participation, CMS regulations, and accreditation standards.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Passion for patient-centered care and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Ability to balance strategy, operations, and field leadership.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Comfort with data systems, electronic medical records, and analytics.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

RN degree highly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field considered.
Multi-site operational leadership experience strongly preferred.
Three or more years of direct healthcare services leadership preferred.
Experience with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct day-to-day business operations, financial management, staff development, admissions, payroll, and quality assurance across multiple hospice sites.
Maintain compliance with Medicare, state licensing, accreditation, and federal regulations, and manage readiness for surveys and audits.
Develop and expand referral relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physicians, and discharge planners in alignment with revenue targets.
Ensure quality patient and family services, including clinical oversight in home, hospital, and long-term care settings.
Supervise executive directors, medical staff, volunteer programs, and interdepartmental teams to optimize care coordination and performance.
Represent the organization in the community, manage public relations initiatives, and resolve public or patient concerns.
Participate in ongoing quality assessment and improvement programs to advance hospice care.
