About The Position

Tradewind Services (TWS) is seeking an on-site AV & Technology Lead for their new Newport HQ. This role is responsible for the day-to-day technology operations, ensuring all systems function seamlessly, particularly in a state-of-the-art, high-spec building with AI-driven systems. The ideal candidate will provide white-glove service, being proactive and responsive to prevent issues, especially in critical client or executive-facing situations. This is not a standard IT help desk job; it requires urgency and availability outside of regular business hours. The role involves supporting advanced AV systems, building smart technology, maintaining system currency, and providing general IT support to all users in the building.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years in IT support, AV support, or a similar hands-on role in a corporate or commercial setting.
  • Real experience with conference room technology: Zoom Rooms and/or Microsoft Teams Rooms, plus associated cameras, DSPs, and displays.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID or Active Directory, Intune or another MDM, and Windows and macOS troubleshooting.
  • Solid networking basics: Wi-Fi, VLANs, DHCP and DNS, and understanding of how AV and control devices function on a network.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
  • Clear, patient communication skills with non-technical users, including senior executives.
  • Willingness to work around confidential company and executive information.
  • Ability to work on site, lift up to 40 lbs, and respond after hours when issues arise.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on programming, support, or administration of Crestron systems. Crestron certification (such as DMC-D or CTI) is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Lutron, Control4, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, or similar lighting, control, and audio platforms.
  • Experience supporting smart building, home automation, or mobile-controlled environments.
  • Experience with Claude Code integration, and exposure to AI-enabled tools and their support issues.
  • Certifications such as CTS (AVIXA), CompTIA A+ or Network+, or Microsoft 365 fundamentals.
  • Actively seeks out AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies, adapting quickly to leverage them for improved productivity, deeper insights, and more effective processes, while exercising sound judgment and maintaining compliance with organizational standards.
  • Experience in a high-end office or hospitality setting.

Responsibilities

  • Keep every meeting room, boardroom, and training space ready for a Zoom or Teams call at all times, including pre-workday and pre-meeting checks.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot room systems: displays, cameras, microphones, DSPs, speakers, wireless presentation, and room scheduling panels.
  • Be available on-site for executive meetings, board sessions, and client events, providing setup, testing, and close support until conclusion.
  • Collaborate with AV integrators and vendors for support, warranty claims, and system changes, acting as the first responder and escalation owner.
  • Support the phone-controlled environment, including Crestron control, lighting, sound, and AI-driven features.
  • Assist users with mobile app and control setup, including access, permissions, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Monitor system health, track recurring faults, and report root-cause findings to the integrator and Senior Director of IT.
  • Ensure all systems are updated and maintained, including firmware, software, operating systems, patches, and security updates, scheduled to minimize business disruption.
  • Run a recurring test and maintenance schedule, maintain spare parts inventory, and document the status of all rooms and systems.
  • Track licenses, warranties, support contracts, and renewals to prevent lapses.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all user hardware, software, account, access, printing, and network issues.
  • Respond quickly to system failures, including after hours, acting as the first call.
  • Set up and deploy hardware for new hires, managing onboarding and offboarding processes in coordination with HR and the central IT team.
  • Support Wi-Fi, wired networking, and building network equipment in conjunction with the central IT team.
  • Log and manage tickets, set user expectations, and ensure resolution, escalating when necessary.
  • Maintain current documentation, including room guides, system diagrams, quick-start sheets, and a runbook.
  • Recommend improvements to technology and systems based on real-world usage.
