Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver
About The Position
Royalty Staffing is searching for attentive and detail-oriented drivers to join its client’s team of Autonomous Vehicle Safety Drivers. The role involves supporting autonomous vehicle testing and helping ensure high safety standards while collecting data on system performance and environmental factors. Drivers interact with riders, engineers, and operations leaders, monitor vehicle performance, prepare vehicles for field operations, and submit reports to support system and operational improvements. Drivers must remain alert and distraction-free and be prepared to respond safely to other road users and unexpected events. Schedules are Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday. AM shift options are 5:00 am–1:30 pm, 5:30 am–2:00 pm, 6:00 am–2:30 pm, and 6:30 am–3:00 pm, at $21–$25 per hour. PM shift options are 2:30 pm–11:00 pm, 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, 3:30 pm–12:00 am, and 4:00 pm–12:30 am, at $24–$27 per hour.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of holding a valid US driving license.
- Excellent knowledge of local traffic regulations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and on different types of roads.
- High level of responsibility and attention to detail.
- Clean driving record, with no DUI or drug- and/or alcohol-related offenses within the last 5 years.
Responsibilities
- Operate autonomous vehicles safely and lawfully to collect data on system performance and environmental factors.
- Interact professionally with riders, engineers, and company operations leaders, providing feedback and insights.
- Monitor vehicle performance and conduct in-field testing to ensure operational safety.
- Prepare vehicles daily for in-field operations, including safety checks and system readiness.
- Submit detailed reports to support system advancements and operational improvements.
- Remain prepared for the actions of other drivers and pedestrians and for unexpected events.
- Stay alert and distraction-free while in vehicles.
Benefits
- Hourly pay of $21–$27, with rates varying by shift.
