About The Position

Gurnee Volkswagen is looking for a Used Car Technician to join our service team. This position is responsible for helping inspect, diagnose, repair, and recondition used vehicles so they are ready to be sold and delivered to our customers. If you are an experienced automotive technician who takes pride in quality work, works efficiently, and wants a consistent flow of vehicles to work on, we want to hear from you!

Requirements

• Previous automotive technician experience preferred
• Experience working on used/reconditioning vehicles is a plus
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Strong attention to detail
• Reliable attendance and a positive attitude
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to provide your own tools

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate used vehicles for mechanical and safety concerns
• Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs
• Diagnose and repair automotive systems and components
• Complete reconditioning work to prepare vehicles for sale
• Perform oil changes, brake work, suspension repairs, and other general repairs
• Identify additional repairs needed and communicate findings with management
• Perform quality-control inspections on completed work
• Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and services performed
• Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
• Follow all dealership safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
