About The Position

The Line Lead is a front-line supervisor who directly manages and develops a team of hourly associates in a Carvana Inspection Center to achieve production targets. The role oversees vehicle movement and repair workflows, supports quality and production goals, coaches and develops associates, and promotes a safe, communicative, and productive team environment. The supervisor reviews defects in incoming inventory and works with the Inspection Center General Manager on decisions to repair or reject vehicles based on estimated repair costs and overall vehicle quality. The position requires hands-on knowledge of at least one area of vehicle reconditioning and the ability to train associates to complete repairs effectively and efficiently.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience using computers.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Demonstrated functional expertise in one or more areas of Carvana’s reconditioning process.
• Demonstrated understanding of current reconditioning processes and lean principles.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record: no DUIs and no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds independently, with most lifting from knee to shoulder height and other lifting from various levels.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently stretch, reach, walk, stoop, push, and/or pull.
• Ability to work in conditions that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, or contain vehicle-maintenance fumes or odors.
• Ability to use required safety equipment, which may include a face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, a mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
• Ability to maintain high-volume, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to delegate tasks effectively to team members.
• Ability to communicate and interact professionally and courteously with others, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to resolve complex issues with guidance from others.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and variable schedules as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Manage the safe movement of cars into and out of the Inspection Center for repairs while meeting or exceeding production and quality goals.
• Meet or exceed inventory production goals daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Oversee assigned team activities; identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
• Coach, develop, and manage team performance; provide feedback and demonstrate desired skills.
• Create an environment that encourages positive communication, team cohesion, and adherence to Carvana’s Values.
• Communicate expectations, performance measures, and goals clearly to team members.
• Prevent and resolve conflict among team members.
• Monitor adherence to systems, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
• Review and approve identified mechanical and physical defects of incoming inventory.
• Lead production associates and partner with the Inspection Center General Manager to repair or reject inventory based on estimated repair costs and overall vehicle quality.
• Train production associates to use Quality Control standards to identify and complete repairs effectively and efficiently the first time, minimizing re-checks and production delays.
• Complete repairs effectively and efficiently the first time to minimize rework and production delays.
• Work conscientiously to reduce the risk of injury from spills or other preventable hazardous conditions.
• Manage multiple associates, including their development and performance.
