About The Position

The Automotive Service Dispatcher is responsible for assigning repair orders to technicians, monitoring their productivity, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the service department. This role involves coordinating with Service Advisors, managing shop capacity, and maintaining clear communication between technicians, advisors, and management to ensure efficient and timely vehicle repairs. The dispatcher plays a key role in optimizing shop utilization and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Strong understanding of automotive repair processes.
Knowledge of warranty and customer pay repair procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer proficiency and experience with dealer management systems.

Nice To Haves

Previous automotive dealership service experience preferred.
Experience as a Service Dispatcher, Shop Foreman, Service Advisor, or Technician is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Assign repair orders to technicians based on skill level, experience, certifications, and current workload.
Monitor technician productivity and maintain a balanced workflow.
Prioritize customer waiters, appointments, warranty repairs, and emergency repairs.
Coordinate with Service Advisors regarding repair status and estimated completion times.
Monitor shop capacity and adjust work assignments as needed.
Ensure repair orders are dispatched accurately and efficiently.
Track technician hours, efficiency, and productivity.
Work with the parts department to minimize delays caused by unavailable parts.
Maintain communication between technicians, advisors, and management.
Review repair orders for completeness before dispatching.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow dealership policies and manufacturer guidelines.
