About The Position
Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships is seeking an experienced, customer-driven Automotive Service Advisor / Assistant Service Manager to deliver a high-quality service experience and support daily service operations at Newark Nissan. This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is interested in developing toward service management. Training is provided to prepare the successful candidate for Service Management. Hertrich is a family-owned dealership group with more than 60 years of operation, 24 dealerships, 18 automotive brands, and 15 Collision Centers across four states. The position is full-time and requires flexible availability, including evenings and Saturdays.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience as an Automotive Service Advisor or Service Writer, or at least 1 year as an Assistant Service Manager.
- Proven customer service and sales/up-selling skills.
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
- Comfort with computers and dealership service systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean or near-clean driving record.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and Saturdays.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a professional, high-quality service experience from customer check-in through completion.
- Greet service customers and manage incoming service calls.
- Schedule appointments and communicate service timelines.
- Present repair and maintenance estimates clearly and confidently.
- Coordinate repair orders with technicians and monitor workflow.
- Recommend additional services when appropriate.
- Support daily service operations and administrative processes.
- Help maintain parts inventory and enforce service policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
