Auto Electrician - Dayshift
About The Position
FirstGroup plc is seeking an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Automotive Electrician to join the team at its First Bus Glasgow Caledonia Depot. This hands-on role involves keeping vehicles safe and reliable by diagnosing electrical faults, completing repairs and replacing parts as needed. The position is offered on a dayshift pattern: 6am–2pm, five days over seven, including one weekend in three, with a minimum of 37 hours per week. Pay is £21.54 per hour (£41,442 per annum), with a £2,000 joining bonus subject to terms. A further pay increase is scheduled for April 2027. The depot is at 100 Cathcart Road, Glasgow, G42 7BH. Background checks are conducted as part of recruitment, and applicants must confirm their right to work in the UK.
Requirements
- Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance and repair, with a focus on electrics.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Passion for mechanics.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working on HGV or PSV vehicles.
- Engineering apprenticeship qualification for ex-Forces personnel.
- Experience as an engineer in another automotive sector.
Responsibilities
