About The Position

First Bus is hiring an Automotive Electrician for its Glasgow Caledonia Depot. The role involves keeping vehicles safe and reliable by diagnosing electrical faults, carrying out repairs, and replacing parts when needed. Duties also include scheduled electrical testing and installations, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance. The successful candidate must complete documentation accurately and in accordance with regulations and health and safety standards.

The position is based at Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, Glasgow, G42 7BH. The advertised dayshift pattern is 6am–2pm, with a minimum of 37 hours per week over five days in seven, including one weekend in three. Pay is £21.54 per hour (£41,442 per annum), with a £2,000 joining bonus subject to terms. A further pay increase is scheduled for April 2027.

Requirements

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance and repair, with a focus on electrics.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Passion for mechanics.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on HGV or PSV vehicles is beneficial.
• Engineering apprenticeship qualification, including for ex-Forces personnel.
• Experience as an engineer in another automotive sector.

Responsibilities
