Auto Electrician - Nightshift
About The Position
First Bus is hiring a qualified Automotive Electrician to join the team at its Glasgow Caledonia Depot. This hands-on role is responsible for keeping vehicles safe and reliable by diagnosing electrical faults, carrying out repairs, and replacing parts when needed. The electrician will complete scheduled electrical testing and installations, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance, while ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations and health and safety standards. The advertised night shift works four nights per week, including one weekend in three, from 8pm to 6am, with a minimum of 37 hours per week. Pay is £24.07 per hour, stated as £46,310 per annum, and the role offers a £2,000 joining bonus subject to terms. A further pay increase is scheduled for April 2027.
Requirements
- Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance and repair, with a focus on electrics.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics.
- Applicants must confirm their right to work in the UK.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working on HGV or PSV vehicles would be beneficial.
- Automotive electrical knowledge.
- Engineering apprenticeship qualification for ex-Forces personnel or experience as an engineer in another automotive sector.
