About The Position

FirstGroup plc is seeking an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Automotive Electrician to join the team at its First Bus Glasgow Caledonia Depot. This hands-on role involves keeping vehicles safe and reliable by diagnosing electrical faults, carrying out repairs, and replacing parts as needed. The position is advertised for night shift, with a schedule of four nights per week, including one weekend in three, from 8pm to 6am. The minimum working time is 37 hours per week. Pay is £24.07 per hour, stated as £46,310 per annum, with a £2,000 joining bonus subject to terms. A further pay increase is scheduled for April 2027. The role also involves scheduled electrical testing and installations, routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and accurate completion of documentation in accordance with regulations and health and safety standards. The position is based at Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, Glasgow, G42 7BH.

Requirements

SVQ/NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance and repair, with a focus on electrics.
A valid UK driving licence.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics.

Nice To Haves

Experience working on HGV or PSV vehicles is beneficial.
Engineering apprenticeship qualification for ex-Forces personnel.
Experience as an engineer in other automotive sectors.
