About The Position

Progressive is hiring an Auto Damage Claims Adjuster to serve as a point of contact for customers and direct and make decisions about vehicle repairs from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an individual inventory, works independently, and partners with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability. The role calls for leadership, conflict management, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service. This is a field position covering the Traverse City, Michigan, or Petoskey, Michigan, territory, subject to change or extension based on business needs. The role includes access to a company car and frequent driving within the assigned area; assignments may also fall outside that area, and occasional office reporting may be required. Work may take place in field, office, body shop, network shop, or service center environments.

Requirements

At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or an associate's degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance, and compliance with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Leadership and conflict management skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
