Auto Damage Claims Adjuster - Bronx, NY
About The Position
Progressive is seeking an auto damage claims adjuster to serve as a point of contact for customers and direct and make decisions about vehicle repairs from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an individual claim inventory while working independently, collaborating with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability. The role calls for leadership and conflict-management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service. This is a field position with access to a company car and frequent driving within an assigned geographic area. Workloads are assessed collectively, so assignments may extend beyond that area. Occasional reporting to an office may also be required.
Requirements
- One of the following experience and education combinations: at least four years of relevant work experience, including one year in appraisal/estimatics or insurance; an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year in appraisal/estimatics or insurance; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year in appraisal/estimatics or insurance.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- Must comply with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Responsibilities
- Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total-loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
- Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
- Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
- Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolutions of claims without payments.
- Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
