About The Position

Progressive is hiring an Auto Damage Claims Adjuster to serve as a point of contact for customers and direct and make decisions about the vehicle repair process from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an independent inventory of claims, works with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing, and assesses liability. This is a field position with access to a company car and frequent driving within an assigned geographical area. Adjusters may cover assignments outside that area and may occasionally be required to report to an office. The role involves inspecting vehicles, writing estimates, evaluating total losses, setting expectations and timelines, negotiating repairs, documenting claim information, and resolving claims in accordance with claims standards and local laws. Compensation is $80,200–$98,100 per year, depending on experience, with an annual Gainshare cash incentive of up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance. The position is located in Bronx, New York.

Requirements

At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; OR an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; OR a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Must comply with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Leadership and conflict management skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
