About The Position

Kemper is hiring an Auto Liability Adjuster Trainee to investigate and handle auto liability claims. The role involves gathering statements and evidence, reviewing reports and medical records, identifying coverage issues, researching laws and medical terminology, and negotiating settlements. The trainee will attend Basic Claims training and other assigned training programs, maintain required course and performance standards, and obtain any state licenses required for the states handled. Travel may be required during training. College graduates are welcome.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or at least 1 year of insurance experience, or 3 years of equivalent professional experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficient typing and computer skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Meet applicable state licensing requirements for the states handled.

Responsibilities

• Take statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
• Obtain and review evidence, reports, and medical records.
• Investigate losses and identify coverage issues.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants and claimant’s attorneys.
• Research state laws and medical terms.
• Attend Basic Claims training and other training programs selected for the employee; travel may be required during training.
• Maintain a passing average in formal courses, acceptable job competencies, and performance evaluations rated “Meets Expectations” or higher.
• Pass required state licensing exams and meet any applicable deadlines to obtain licenses.
