Auto Body Technician
About The Position
Crash Champions is hiring an Auto Body Technician to perform collision repairs at one of its repair locations. The company describes its operation as a founder-led multi-shop operator with more than 650 locations across 38 states, including the Crash Champions LUXE | EV Certified brand of highline and luxury EV repair centers. The technician examines damaged vehicles, plans and performs repairs, and communicates repair status with others. The role includes making repair-versus-replace decisions with safety, cost, and cycle time in mind, removing vehicle components to access repair areas, and using power and hand tools to prepare repaired surfaces. The technician may direct an apprentice when needed. This position is paid on a commission/flag-rate structure; flag pay is guaranteed to meet local minimum-wage requirements for all hours worked each week. The listed compensation range reflects average flag pay for a typical full-time employee in the position.
Requirements
- Ability to use a frame machine.
- Knowledge of the vehicle repair process by manufacturer.
- I-CAR welding certification.
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting measuring data.
- Ability to supervise repair personnel.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in body repair is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Examine damaged vehicles and efficiently plan the repair process.
- Work and communicate with others regarding vehicle repair status.
- Perform quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
- Decide whether to repair or replace parts, considering safety, cost, and cycle time.
- Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to access the vehicle and fenders.
- Participate in required safety meetings.
- File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
- Direct an apprentice’s work when needed, including addressing unusual problems or questions and explaining procedures.
