About The Position

This role plays a critical part in strengthening how BECU identifies, understands, and manages risk, while also modernizing audit through data and AI. The position involves leading end-to-end audit engagements, using advanced analytics and emerging technologies to uncover insights that drive smarter decisions. The work directly influences operational efficiency, security, and trust across the organization. The role requires partnering with leaders, challenging assumptions, and bringing forward-thinking ideas to elevate audit practices. It offers an opportunity to blend technical expertise with strategic impact in a highly visible role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent work or educational experience required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of internal auditing experience, including at least 2 years leading audit engagements, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, think strategically, and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.
  • Experienced with critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Active professional auditing or risk certification, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), or an equivalent professional certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analytic and reporting tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, and Snowflake.
  • Exposure to AI tools (e.g., Copilot) and prompt engineering concepts.
  • Internal audit experience in a Credit Union or financial institution preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Risk-Based Audits: Own end-to-end audit engagements as Auditor-in-Charge—from planning and risk assessment through fieldwork and reporting—ensuring high-quality, impactful outcomes.
  • Leverage Data & Analytics: Write SQL queries, analyze large datasets, and use tools like Alteryx and Tableau to identify anomalies, trends, and emerging risks.
  • Drive AI Adoption in Audit: Help shape the future of audit by leveraging tools like Copilot, building prompt libraries, and integrating AI into risk-based auditing practices.
  • Deliver Strategic Insights: Translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders and leadership, influencing better business decisions.
  • Enhance Audit Innovation: Contribute to continuous auditing efforts and help evolve audit methodologies through automation and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business processes, assess risk, and provide trusted advisory support.
  • Ensure Quality & Compliance: Uphold IIA standards, regulatory expectations, and internal policies while maintaining objectivity and integrity.
  • Coach & Support Team Members: Review workpapers, provide feedback, and help elevate the capabilities of the audit team.
