About The Position

The Audiovisual (AV) Technician - I is responsible for supporting the installation of audiovisual (AV) and technology systems at customer sites under the direction of a Foreman or Project Manager. This role assists with equipment installation, cable routing, system mounting, and job site preparation while following established installation standards and safety practices. Working as part of an installation team, the AV Technician I learns the fundamentals of commercial AV integration while gaining hands-on experience with a variety of technologies, construction environments, and installation methods. This position offers the opportunity to build technical skills, earn industry certifications, and develop a career within the AV integration industry. This is a temporary position established to support current business needs. The assignment has no guaranteed duration and is expected to conclude once the temporary business need has ended. Employment with Avidex remains at will in accordance with applicable law.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on project needs.
  • Ability to obtain required state licenses or certifications, where applicable.
  • Ability to obtain a Powder-Actuated Tool Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience installing AV, low-voltage, electrical, or related technology systems.
  • Familiarity with construction environments and common installation tools.
  • Experience using lifts, scaffolding, or other construction equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install AV equipment, cabling, and system components under the direction of a Foreman or Project Manager.
  • Assist with equipment mounting, cable pulls, rack assembly, and installation of audiovisual systems.
  • Read and follow project documentation, drawings, work orders, and installation instructions.
  • Report project progress, issues, and scope changes to the Foreman or Project Manager.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site throughout each project.
  • Protect customer facilities, equipment, and materials during installation.
  • Assist with project closeout by collecting equipment manuals, unused materials, and other required documentation.
  • Work with the project team to ensure installations meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Follow OSHA safety requirements and company safety policies at all times.
  • Attend safety meetings, training sessions, and certification courses as required.
  • Maintain required certifications and continue developing technical skills.
