About The Position

The Audio Visual Technician provides audio-visual support and customer service to guests, zoo staff, special events, and zoo-wide operations. The role supports events by setting up and operating AV equipment in a variety of settings, and installs and maintains AV equipment and systems. The technician responds to AV requests and troubleshoots issues as needed. The position serves both the Saint Louis Zoo Forest Park campus and Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Strong knowledge of audio-visual, sound, lighting, and video equipment.
• Proficiency with computer hardware and software applications.
• Ability to work well in a group environment and independently.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
• Ability to adapt to change and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Professional and effective customer service skills.
• Desire to learn.
• Dependability and flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varied physical conditions, including high places, tight spaces, and extreme weather.
• Ability to climb, use ladders, and work in low spaces, sometimes on hands and knees.
• Successful candidates must submit to a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, and machine work.
• Experience with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide audio-visual support and customer service for guests, zoo staff, special events, and zoo-wide operations.
• Set up and operate AV equipment for events, including projectors, monitors, computers, video cameras, lighting, and supported sound systems.
• Install and maintain AV equipment and systems.
• Respond to AV requests and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external guests in a wide range of circumstances.
