About The Position

Performs a wide variety of complex and specialized activities supporting the design, operation, maintenance, transportation, scheduling, and lifecycle management of audio/visual systems and equipment for programs, conferences, meetings, and special events across campus. Functions as the subject matter expert for audio/visual systems, integrated conferencing environments, and AV design needs across campus. Serves as a primary technical resource for high-profile and critical events, providing planning, testing, event-day operation, troubleshooting, and post-event support.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with a broad range of professional audio/visual equipment and integrated AV systems, including support of large or high-profile events
  • Demonstrated technical expertise with Zoom, Zoom Rooms, Zoom integrations, and Crestron systems
  • Demonstrated expertise troubleshooting professional audio systems, including microphones, mixers, DSPs, amplifiers, speakers, audio interfaces, signal flow, cabling, and related AV infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting integrated AV environments, including displays, cameras, control systems, switching, signal distribution, and conferencing technologies
  • Expert knowledge of AV equipment setup, operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex AV issues under time-sensitive conditions, including during live and critical events
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, room diagrams, equipment inventories, standards, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support and advise employees, technical staff, professionals, and senior management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications as well as video and audio editing software

Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, implements, configures, and supports audio/visual systems for use across campus facilities
  • Operates professional audio, video, presentation, and conferencing equipment for research programs, conferences, meetings, and special events
  • Serves as the primary technical resource for high-profile and critical campus events, including pre-event planning, system testing, event-day operation, real-time troubleshooting, and post-event follow-up
  • Troubleshoots professional audio systems and signal flow, including microphones, mixers, digital signal processors (DSPs), amplifiers, speakers, audio interfaces, cabling, and related AV infrastructure
  • Troubleshoots integrated AV and conferencing environments, including displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, control systems, switching, signal distribution, Zoom Rooms, Zoom integrations, and Crestron systems
  • Provides subject matter expertise and technical guidance to equipment users and IT staff concerning AV system operation, equipment selection, presentation techniques, and troubleshooting
  • Develops and performs preventive maintenance, testing, and readiness checks for campus AV systems and coordinates repair activities as needed
  • Develops and maintains AV system documentation, room diagrams, equipment inventories, configuration standards, troubleshooting procedures, known-issue documentation, and lifecycle requirements
  • Maintains a working inventory of AV equipment in accordance with user and event needs
  • Provides AV equipment and technology purchasing recommendations and influences purchasing and lifecycle decisions
  • Schedules, transports, sets up, tests, and supports audio/visual equipment for use by employees and maintains schedules and records of requested AV equipment and users
  • Coordinates with external AV vendors when specialized services are required and identifies opportunities to perform services internally when appropriate
  • Partners with IT Support and other technology teams to establish AV standards, improve room reliability, and transfer knowledge to support staff
  • Applies job skills and department policies and procedures to complete a wide range of difficult tasks
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned
