About The Position

The Audio-Visual System Engineer is responsible for designing, supporting, and continuously improving audio-visual experiences across Jackson Family Wines. This role supports executive meetings, internal business meetings, consumer-facing events, hybrid and virtual experiences, large-scale productions, conference room solutions, sound systems, and digital signage. The position requires strong technical expertise in audio, video, lighting, staging, streaming, and collaboration technologies, along with the ability to manage stakeholders, coordinate vendors, and lead event execution from planning through completion. Reporting to the Director, IT Operations, the Audio-Visual System Engineer provides technical leadership and hands-on support for AV events, hybrid meetings, and production needs across the organization. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders, business leaders, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure events are well planned, professionally executed, and aligned with business expectations. For larger events requiring outsourced support, this position is responsible for internal coordination, vendor communication, pre-production planning, onsite execution, and post-production follow-up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in audio-visual technology, information technology, engineering, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in AV engineering, event production, or related technical role preferred.
  • Thorough working knowledge of AV concepts such as acoustics, lighting, aspect ratios, and font size versus distance, scan rates, video standards and transmission systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to test, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues involving AV systems, networks, hardware, and software in a professional audio/video environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-oriented in high-pressure production environments while providing clear direction to the team.
  • Ability to plan, organize, document, and communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing; establish cooperation, trust, and credibility; manage multiple priorities concurrently; and respond effectively to urgent or changing situations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation related to AV systems, computers, operating systems, applications, hardware, and networks.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with employees, business partners, vendors, and small groups.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to implement detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems involving concrete and abstract variables.

Nice To Haves

  • CTS-D and/or CTS certification is a plus or equivalent experience.
  • Any other key manufacturer certifications are also a plus.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.
  • Experience with stand-alone and cloud-based video encoding solutions such as vMix, and other related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all technical components of a production are developed & executed flawlessly in keeping with the stakeholder/client's vision, budget requirements, timeline, and safety standards.
  • Serving as the lead AV engineer by setting clear expectations, communicating processes, establishing goals, reviewing opportunities for improvement, and providing support as needed.
  • Playing a key role in projects/events from conception through pre-production, onsite execution, and post-production.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with executives, stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and event partners by communicating clearly and establishing trust in the team’s capabilities.
  • Maintaining strong working knowledge of collaboration platforms, presentation tools, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Logitech Rally systems, video switchers, audio consoles, cameras, microphones, streaming tools, and related AV hardware and software.
  • Supporting and managing virtual meeting applications such as MS Teams, Cisco WebEx, Zoom, etc.
  • Assisting with other IT department responsibilities between events and productions as business needs require.
