About The Position

The Dispatch is seeking an Audience Growth & Lifecycle Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of their membership business. This role is responsible for the entire funnel, from audience development and lifecycle marketing to retention. The successful candidate will build and launch campaigns, conduct conversion and paywall tests, manage lifecycle email flows, and use data to inform decisions. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with senior leadership and own outcomes. The role requires a candidate who has experience at a company of similar size or stage, understands how to build with limited resources, and desires ownership and upside. The company has strong fundamentals but needs to build sustainable systems for regularly reaching new audiences and better converting traffic spikes. The email, paywall, and retention programs need to be coordinated into a single effort, and the existing data infrastructure needs to be leveraged. This role is crucial for converting the platform's high-quality editorial content, trusted brand, and loyal audience into more sustainable growth by optimizing systems for audience acquisition, conversion, and retention.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in subscription marketing, growth marketing, or audience development.
  • Genuine understanding of The Dispatch and its unique place in the new media ecosystem, or a willingness to learn quickly.
  • Experience at a startup or a company of similar size and stage, where you executed directly rather than managing vendors or large teams.
  • Ability to digest large amounts of data (spreadsheet analysis, cohort reporting, A/B test interpretation) and distill them into clear and actionable insights.
  • Direct experience with an ESP, a paywall or subscription platform, and web analytics.
  • Strong copy instincts and attention to detail.
  • Experience launching campaigns end to end, from segmentation through creative through reporting.
  • Ability to distinguish correlation from causation in data.
  • Comfortable with both designing and configuring tests.

Responsibilities

  • Drive audience development by growing and segmenting the top of the funnel across newsletters, social, and organic channels.
  • Build and manage email flows, segmentation, and dynamic content in the ESP, optimizing welcome series, conversion sequences, and retention touchpoints.
  • Execute a continuous pipeline of experiments across paywalls, offers, landing pages, onboarding sequences, and lifecycle triggers.
  • Develop and launch campaigns to capture attention during news cycles and traffic surges.
  • Maintain daily reporting on conversion, churn, and campaign performance, ensuring data drives decision-making.
