About The Position

The Auction Title Clerk prepares legal vehicle transfer documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), verifies and enters fees assigned to vehicles, and administers title processing for auction transactions. The role includes entering title information for sold vehicles, preparing and maintaining vehicle jackets, securing titles until customers retrieve them, and shipping titles to customers who have paid for their vehicles. The clerk also determines outstanding DMV fees using vehicle identification numbers (VINs), prepares title reports and amounts owed for flooring companies, and keeps current with applicable state laws and DMV regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of title and DMV laws and regulations.
• Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience in a dealership position.
• Previous tag and title experience.
• Experience with DMV and/or Auction Edge/ASI auction systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tag and title documents.
• Submit legal transfer documents to the DMV.
• Prepare checks reimbursing buyers for DMV fees.
• Enter title information for sold cars into auction software.
• Determine outstanding fees by looking up vehicle identification numbers (VINs) in the state DMV system.
• Prepare and maintain vehicle jackets.
• Keep titles secured until customers retrieve them.
• Prepare express shipments or registered mail and ship titles to customers who have paid for their vehicles.
• Administer title processing for auction transactions.
• Create title reports and calculate amounts owed for flooring companies.
• Keep current with applicable state laws and DMV laws and regulations.
