About The Position

Degan, Blanchard & Nash (DBN) is seeking an attorney with construction law and complex litigation experience to join its collaborative, growth-oriented team. The attorney will handle challenging construction matters and represent contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, architects, engineers, and insurers throughout construction projects and related disputes. The role includes managing a diverse caseload, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, representing clients in dispute-resolution proceedings, advising on contracts and project risks, and working with colleagues and clients on case and project strategies.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing.
• 4–8 years of experience in construction law, commercial litigation, or related practice areas.
• Strong analytical, research, writing, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

Nice To Haves

• Experience handling construction disputes, contract negotiations, and risk management matters is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction-related matters, including contract disputes, construction defect claims, delay and disruption claims, lien and bond issues, and risk management matters.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, depositions, and court proceedings.
• Advise clients on construction contracts, project risk allocation, regulatory compliance, and dispute-avoidance strategies.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop case and project strategies.
• Review and negotiate construction agreements, subcontractor agreements, and related project documentation.
• Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry developments affecting the construction industry.
