Athletic Trainer

About The Position

The athletic trainer will provide and coordinate athletic training services for assigned teams and other student-athletes; maintain records and supplies; coordinate care with sports medicine physicians and coaches and assist in the supervision and management of our athletic training room facility. The athletic trainer reports directly to the Director of Sports Medicine. Sport assignments are assigned at the discretion of the Director of Sports Medicine. This is a full time, 12 month position with benefits. Some holiday, evening and weekend work will be required. University of Dayton Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA, the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Pioneer Football League.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Possess a valid, current NATA B.O.C. certification (in good standing)
  • Possess an Ohio Athletic Trainers license (or eligible to obtain)
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written skills with attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license, maintains a low-risk driving record and is able to be insured by the university
  • Ability to work on weekends, evenings, holidays
  • Travel as needed
  • Ability to adjust schedules in a fast paced environment
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Division I, intercollegiate athletic training program
  • Experience working as an athletic trainer
  • Experience documenting and detailing medical assessments and evaluations
  • Experience working with physicians and other medical professionals
  • Possess CSCS certification
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with NCAA Regulations and HIPPA
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organizational skills and experience managing multiple tasks
  • Possess a knowledgeable and professional demeanor and is able to demonstrate excellent verbal, intercommunication and interaction skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse student-athlete and staff population
  • Experience with electronic medical records (i.e. EPIC, SportsWare, etc)
