About The Position

Athletic Event Staff provides operational support for school-sponsored athletic events and activities. Depending on event needs, assignments may include ticket taking, admissions support, announcing, operating the game clock or scoreboard, assisting with event security and crowd management, and other duties needed for the safe and efficient operation of athletic events. Work may vary, and additional duties may be assigned as appropriate.

The position requires a flexible schedule to meet the needs of specific athletic seasons, including afternoon and evening hours. The role is as needed and is not eligible for remote work. It is non-exempt and non-union.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on athletic-season needs, including afternoon and evening hours.
• Good human relations and communication skills.
• Ability to speak and convey detailed or important spoken instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Normal cognitive abilities, including the ability to learn, recall, and apply practices and policies.
• Frequently sit or remain in a stationary position for long periods.
• Occasionally exert up to 25 pounds of force and frequently or constantly exert negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Responsibilities

• Greet spectators, participants, officials, and guests courteously and professionally.
• Collect, verify, or assist with tickets and admission procedures at event entrances.
• Provide spectators with basic information about entrances, seating, facilities, and event procedures.
• Operate game clocks, scoreboards, timing equipment, or other event equipment as assigned.
• Serve as a public-address announcer, communicating game information, announcements, introductions, and other approved information clearly and professionally.
• Help ensure spectators and participants follow established facility and event expectations.
• Assist school administrators, athletic staff, officials, and other event personnel as directed.
• Follow applicable school division policies, safety procedures, emergency protocols, and event-specific instructions.
