About The Position

The Associate reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers. This non-management position performs a range of store duties, including cashiering, stocking, cleaning, monitoring perishables, and providing customer service. The Associate helps maintain excellent daily store conditions and performs all duties in accordance with Leevers Supermarkets policies and procedures. The role has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities and no authority to make employment decisions such as hiring, firing, demotions, or promotions.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old; applicants who are 15 may qualify with a parent letter and school authorization letter.
Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Basic computer skills.
Dependability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts and in other store areas as needed, potentially with little or no advance notice.
Adherence to safety standards.
Ability to understand issues quickly, figure things out, and resolve problems.
Positive attitude toward work; ability to accomplish goals using methods demonstrated by store managers and to satisfy customers.
Ability to respect and work well with managers, coworkers, and customers; share information and teach others.
Ability to follow rules and policies and willingness to learn new things.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Spanish or other language proficiency is a plus in certain locations.

Responsibilities

Maintain schedule adherence and punctuality.
Operate a cash register efficiently and meet checkout performance standards, accurately handling cash, EBT, debit and credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, and coupons.
Follow checkout and cash-handling procedures and policies.
Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products according to company standards.
Assist with unloading delivery trucks and stocking products on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, in baskets, and in refrigerated cases.
Use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools to move stock after receiving appropriate training.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment.
Complete assigned cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, parking lots, and other fixtures.
Provide friendly and courteous customer service.
Assist store management in training other employees.
Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
Display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce properly.
Assist Fresh Meat personnel as needed, including wrapping packages, weighing and tagging products, and stocking meat packages.
Perform other assigned duties, including working in other areas of the store.
