About The Position

Desert Tails Animal Clinic is a full-service small animal hospital in North Scottsdale, Arizona, providing compassionate, personalized care supported by modern medicine and advanced technology. The Associate Veterinarian will practice high-quality companion animal medicine while building lasting relationships with clients and collaborating with an experienced support team. The role welcomes both experienced veterinarians and recent graduates, with a structured mentorship program and opportunities for professional growth. The caseload includes small animal general practice, preventive and wellness care, puppy and kitten care, senior pet care, internal medicine, dermatology, urgent care and same-day appointments during regular business hours, client education, end-of-life care, surgery, and dentistry. Doctors interested in surgery may perform soft tissue procedures such as spays and neuters, mass removals and biopsies, wound repair, splenectomies, and exploratory procedures. Dental services include cleanings, oral health assessments, dental radiography, surgical dental procedures, and advanced dental treatments. The position is available full-time or part-time. Full-time doctors may work a four-day week with rotating Saturdays, approximately two per month. The clinic is open Monday through Saturday.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine, or equivalent certification for international graduates.
Active Arizona veterinary license in good standing, or ability to obtain licensure before the start date.
Successful completion of the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE).

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Provide small animal general practice and companion animal medicine.
Deliver preventive care, wellness medicine, puppy and kitten care, and senior pet care.
Manage internal medicine cases, dermatology consultations, and urgent care and same-day appointments during regular business hours.
Build client relationships through education, communication, and care planning.
Provide end-of-life care and participate in quality-of-life discussions.
Perform surgery, with opportunities for soft tissue procedures including spays and neuters, mass removals and biopsies, wound repair, splenectomies, and exploratory procedures.
Provide dentistry, including professional cleanings, oral health assessments, dental radiography, surgical dental procedures, and advanced dental treatments.
Collaborate with the veterinary team and participate in case discussions and ongoing professional development.
