About The Position

IndeVets is hiring a part-time W-2 Associate Veterinarian to work 1–3 days per week in Des Moines, Iowa. The veterinarian chooses preferred workdays, and a dedicated scheduling coordinator builds a predictable schedule in advance. The role provides a guaranteed salary based on the selected schedule, with the option to pick up additional shifts; extra shifts may be paid out or converted into additional PTO.

The veterinarian practices across trusted partner hospitals, gaining exposure to varied clinical settings while remaining employed by IndeVets. The position offers clinical autonomy without production quotas, negative accrual, or restrictive non-competes. Dedicated medical leadership, mentorship, a collaborative veterinary community, access to a veterinary social worker, and continuing education and professional development support are provided. Surgery, dentistry, emergency, and urgent-care shifts may be incorporated into the schedule when possible.

Requirements

• DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited program, or equivalent.
• Active license or ability to obtain one.
• DEA and controlled substance license, as applicable.
• At least 1 year of clinical experience in a small animal setting.
• Confidence practicing independently.
• Strong communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Practice veterinary medicine independently across trusted partner hospital settings.
• Provide patient-focused care with clinical autonomy and without production quotas.

• Optionally pick up additional shifts, with the choice of receiving additional pay or converting them into PTO.
