About The Position

IndeVets is hiring a part-time W-2 Associate Veterinarian in Des Moines, Iowa. The role is designed to offer a sustainable and predictable veterinary career, with a guaranteed salary, benefits, dedicated scheduling support, and control over the days worked. Veterinarians work 1–3 days per week and select their preferred workdays; a scheduling coordinator builds the schedule in advance. Additional shifts may be picked up for extra pay or converted into additional PTO.

The veterinarian practices across trusted partner hospitals while remaining employed and supported by IndeVets. Clinical settings may include general practice, surgery, dentistry, emergency care, or urgent care when available. The role offers clinical autonomy without production quotas, negative accrual, or restrictive non-competes, along with medical leadership, mentorship, a community of fellow veterinarians, access to a veterinary social worker, and continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited program, or equivalent.
• Active license or ability to obtain one.
• DEA and controlled substance license, as applicable.
• At least 1 year of clinical experience in a small animal setting.
• Confidence practicing independently.
• Strong communication and client relationship skills.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care while practicing independently across trusted partner hospital settings.
• Choose preferred workdays and coordinate with a dedicated scheduling coordinator to establish a schedule in advance.
• Provide care in clinical settings that may include general practice, surgery, dentistry, emergency care, or urgent care, when available.
• Maintain effective communication and relationships with clients.
• Optionally pick up additional shifts, with compensation paid out or converted into additional PTO.
