About The Position

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. The Associate Power Generation Engineer will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large-scale universal solar and/or battery facilities within the state of Florida. This role includes ensuring site safety as the site safety manager, maintaining environmental compliance with regulatory permit requirements, and performing routine engineering tasks. The individual will gain experience with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs, and will eventually be able to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures with adaptations and modifications. Engineers on the FPL Solar Team will spend significant time in the field troubleshooting and repairing solar facilities, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and conducting root cause analysis. The role also involves being on-call for West Florida Sites and coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, Vendors, and Contractors. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, action-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large-scale universal solar and/or battery facilities.
  • Serve as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe.
  • Ensure the site(s) are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements.
  • Perform a variety of routine tasks to gain experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, making adaptations and modifications as needed.
  • Spend significant time in the field troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of solar facilities.
  • Perform routine tasks such as preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis.
  • Be on-call for West Florida Sites.
  • Coordinate with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, Vendors, and Contractors as required.
