Associate Program Manager

Hippo InsuranceAustin, TX
$85,000 - $140,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Associate Program Manager plays a foundational role in the underwriting operations of Spinnaker's Partner Programs business – the fronting platform through which Spinnaker partners with managing general agents (MGAs) to write business nationally. Reporting to the VP, Underwriting, Partner Programs and partnering closely with underwriting and program management professionals across the portfolio, this role ensures the compliance, reporting, and documentation accuracy that keep each program running smoothly and audit-ready, while developing the underwriting judgment required to evaluate MGA-written business directly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years of Property and Casualty insurance experience in an underwriting, operations, or compliance-support capacity
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured data (spreadsheets, reporting templates, filing systems)
  • Ability to follow defined processes precisely while proactively flagging exceptions or discrepancies
  • Clear written communication for internal reporting and documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to program business, MGA relationships, or fronting structures is a plus
  • Familiarity with underwriting and/ or reinsurance reporting concepts (bordereaux, treaty accounts) is a plus
  • Experience with contract management systems (e.g., Lexion) or underwriting/rating systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with state filing review and tracking across the VP's portfolio, compiling documentation for the senior program manager’s sign-off ahead of new program launches and renewals, and maintaining onboarding checklists so new MGA partner programs move through Spinnaker's launch process without missed regulatory steps
  • Review deal-specific business terms and documentation for accuracy and completeness ahead of the senior program manager’s sign-off, flagging discrepancies between the negotiated terms and what's reflected in program documentation
  • Compile performance data, loss history, and program documentation to support the renewal strategy planning, in collaboration with Finance and Operations
  • Compile and maintain tracking of assigned program performance against the strategic objectives set by the CEO and senior leadership team, giving the program management team current data to report progress and flag emerging risks to those objectives
  • Prepare Spinnaker's monthly reinsurer reporting packages for each assigned program, pulling data from underwriting and claims systems so the program managers and Finance can validate ceded premium, loss activity, and treaty compliance before it goes out to reinsurance partners
  • Support reconciliation of account balances due to and from Spinnaker's MGA partners and reinsurers, flagging discrepancies for review so cash settlements and treaty accounts stay current across the assigned program book
  • Compile claims and treaty reporting inputs, including preliminary IBNR data pulls coordinated with Spinnaker's Claims TPA relationships, for the leadership review ahead of quarterly reserve and reporting cycles
  • Gather and organize underwriting guideline documentation for assigned MGA programs, and conduct first-pass data validation ahead of the underwriting audits of program administrators
  • Track and log program administrator/MGA audit findings and remediation status, maintaining records for ongoing program oversight
  • Support loading of signed reinsurance agreements into Spinnaker's contract database (Lexion), and maintain program files and documentation in line with Hippo's recordkeeping standards
  • Participate in new business development support work as directed, including gathering data on prospective MGA partners under consideration for the partner programs portfolio
