About The Position
Wells Fargo is hiring an Associate Personal Banker (SAFE) for its National Branch in Wicker Park, Chicago. In this frontline role, the banker builds customer relationships through in-branch interactions, scheduled conversations, and proactive outreach. The banker learns about customers’ financial goals and connects them with relevant banking products, services, solutions, and digital tools. The role supports account openings, service requests, and credit applications while working with branch teammates to provide a consistent, high-quality customer experience. It combines customer service and relationship building with appropriate referrals, branch growth, cash handling, and teller activities. The position includes training and coaching to support long-term career growth and mobility. The employee must work a schedule that includes Saturdays and pass a required language assessment. SAFE registration is required at employment; Wells Fargo will initiate the process after the start date. Loan Originators must meet LO/CFPB requirements and Wells Fargo standards concerning financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background. A credit report may be reviewed, and additional ongoing screening may apply. The position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience interacting with customers, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes Saturdays.
- Must take and pass the required language assessment.

- For Loan Originators, meet LO/CFPB requirements and Wells Fargo standards related to financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background.

Responsibilities
- Build lasting customer relationships through proactive, meaningful conversations that support financial well-being and deepen engagement.
- Lead discovery-driven conversations to understand customer needs and connect them with relevant banking products, services, and solutions.
- Identify opportunities, promote solutions, and make appropriate referrals to meet customer and business goals.
- Support everyday banking needs, including opening accounts, handling service requests, and processing credit applications.
- Perform cash handling and teller line activities, accurately processing transactions while maintaining compliance and operational standards.
- Use and adopt digital tools and technologies to enhance the customer experience and support evolving banking needs.
- Deliver accurate, compliant service while exercising sound judgment within defined risk controls.
- Collaborate with branch teammates and coordinate handoffs to licensed bankers or other specialists.
- Flex between cash handling and customer banking activities, with an emphasis on account openings and ongoing account support.
- Follow applicable risk and compliance programs, policies, and procedures, and escalate and remediate issues appropriately.
