Associate - Java Developer
About The Position
At Schwab, the Associate Software Development Engineer will join the Thematic Investing Engineering team, which builds technology solutions that help clients invest in market themes rather than individual securities. The role focuses on scalable, client-facing web applications and services that support innovative investing experiences. The position contributes across the software development lifecycle, partnering with engineers and stakeholders to evaluate requirements, solve technical challenges, and deliver high-quality solutions. The engineer will help design, develop, test, and deploy modern web applications and APIs, and continuously improve platform capabilities and client outcomes. The role offers an opportunity to develop technical expertise, learn emerging technologies, and contribute to products that help clients take greater ownership of their financial future. The selected candidate is expected to work on site in the specified location(s), as Schwab values in-office collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field; alternatively, completion of a coding bootcamp program.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree completed in May 2023 or earlier, and/or coding bootcamp certification completed in August 2023 or earlier.
- Knowledge of software development practices and processes.
- Familiarity with algorithm design and data structures.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, NoSQL, or Angular.
- Familiarity with RESTful web services and/or cloud APIs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile environment.
