About The Position

The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier provides welcoming, timely, and professional customer service; answers customer questions; and helps maintain a well-stocked, organized sales floor. The role operates a computer-based point-of-sale system to ensure transactions, product information, and pricing are accurate. It also supports the roundup initiative by informing customers about the mission it supports.

The position involves opening and closing procedures, maintaining clean and organized point-of-sale areas, sales floors, and restrooms, and following retail center and safety policies. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments and provide backup as needed. The job is part-time, requires open availability and a varied schedule that may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime. Pay is $16.51 per hour.

Requirements

• Be accurate with numbers and general calculations and understand the value of different coins and U.S. currency.
• Use basic math, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
• Withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Have color vision for accurate transactions.
• Work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.
• Meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting and carrying items of varying weights and frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of retail sales or cash handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Verify till counts, process accurate cashier transactions, and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
• Promote the roundup initiative by engaging customers and sharing information about the mission it supports.
• Provide excellent customer service in keeping with company values.
• Assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized by cleaning and arranging shelves and racks, picking up items, putting away products, and returning unwanted or returned items.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked point-of-sale area, sales floor, and restrooms.
• Make customer delight/power hour announcements over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
• Follow retail center policies and procedures.
• Follow safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe environment for employees and customers.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup as required.
• Perform additional duties as required.
