About The Position

The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier, provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and responding to inquiries promptly and professionally. The role completes accurate cash and point-of-sale transactions, helps ensure product quality and pricing are correct, and supports Goodwill’s mission by inviting customers to round up their purchases and explaining the mission that initiative supports.

The associate also helps maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor, POS area, and restrooms; completes opening and closing procedures; follows retail and safety policies; and may cross-train or provide backup in other areas. Duties may extend beyond those listed as needed. This part-time position requires a varied schedule that may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime. Pay is $16.51 per hour.

Requirements

• Strong customer service skills.
• Accuracy with numbers and general calculations, including understanding the value of U.S. coins and currency and using basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail sales or cash handling experience preferred.
• Strong cash handling skills highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide timely, professional assistance with questions, concerns, and purchases.
• Verify till counts, process accurate transactions using a computer-based POS system, and maintain a balanced cash drawer.
• Engage customers in the roundup initiative and share information about the mission it supports.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and stocked, including organizing shelves and racks, picking items up from the floor, putting away products, and returning unwanted items.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS area, sales floor, and restrooms.
• Make customer delight/power hour announcements over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
• Follow retail center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup as required.
• Perform additional duties as required.
