About The Position

The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and responding to inquiries promptly and professionally. The role helps keep the sales floor well-stocked and organized, and operates a computer-based point-of-sale system to ensure product and pricing accuracy. The position also involves cash handling, supporting the company’s roundup initiative, completing opening and closing procedures, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized store environment. Employees may be cross-trained in other departments and provide backup as needed.

Requirements

• Must be accurate with numbers and general calculations and understand the value of coins and United States currency.
• Must be able to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Must be able to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
• Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Must have color vision for accurate transactions.
• Must be able to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail sales or cash handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify till counts, process accurate cashier transactions, and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
• Promote the roundup initiative by engaging customers and explaining the mission it supports.
• Provide excellent customer service in accordance with company values.
• Assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized by cleaning and arranging shelves and racks, picking items up from the floor, and putting away merchandise and unwanted or returned items.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked point-of-sale area, sales floor, and restrooms.
• Initiate customer delight/power hour calls over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
• Follow retail center policies and procedures.
• Follow safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe work environment for employees and customers.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and act as backup as required.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required.
