About The Position

The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and responding to inquiries in a timely, professional manner. The role helps maintain a well-stocked, organized sales floor that meets company standards and operates a computer-based point-of-sale system to ensure product and pricing accuracy.

The position also involves accurate cashier transactions and till counts, maintaining a balanced cash drawer, supporting the roundup initiative, and completing opening and closing procedures. Associates help keep the POS area, sales floor, and restrooms clean, safe, organized, and stocked; follow retail and safety procedures; and may cross-train or provide backup in other areas as needed. Duties may include additional responsibilities beyond those listed.

Requirements

• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
• Accuracy with numbers and general calculations, including understanding the value of U.S. coins and currency.
• Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of retail sales or cash-handling experience.
• Open availability and weekend availability are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify till counts, complete accurate cashier transactions, and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
• Support the roundup initiative by engaging customers and explaining the mission it supports.
• Provide excellent customer service consistent with company values.
• Assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized by cleaning and organizing shelves and racks, picking up items, putting away products, and returning unwanted items to their proper places.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS area, sales floor, and restrooms.
• Initiate customer delight/power hour calls over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
• Follow retail center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup as required.
